Day 69: The wreck of the Pesuta

The Pesuta was a lumber barge that was shipwrecked in a storm and ran aground on East Beach near Tlell on the east coast of Graham Island in the winter of 1928. The locals made off with the lumber and used it to construct houses, but the bow of the vessel still sits on the beach and is the end point of a hike through the forest, along the bank of the Tlell River and past its estuary along the beach. Total 10 km both ways.

Luckily we brought our bear bell!
