Day 64: Northern Vancouver Island. Campbell River - Port Hardy (250 km)

After a morning walk around Willow Point and a farewell lunch with our hosts, we boarded the Tofino Bus North Island Express to Port Hardy.

On the way we saw a lot of trees, and unfortunately no bears (despite our driver's assurances that he saw them along the highway all the time).

We also passed a lot of clearcuts, logging roads and North America's last logging railway, in the Nimpkish Valley.

Port Hardy, at the end of the line, is a very pretty fishing village on the water. Our hostel is very close to the pier so we went down to the waterfront and clambered around on the beach after dinner, watching the eagles in the trees along the shoreline.
